Trey Ganem and His Company, SoulShine Industries, Are On A Mission to Honor the Victims of the Uvalde School Shooting
Much of the national conversation lately has centered on the need for gun safety and reform in our country. One of the largest contributing factors to these headlines has been the mass shooting in Uvalde, Texas that left 19 elementary school children and two teachers dead. In the wake of this tragedy, many families have been left disoriented, and yet are in need of planning a funeral. One Texas man, though, is fulfilling his calling by stepping in to help.
Trey Ganem finds his purpose by combining his creativity as an artist with his selflessness. Through his company SoulShine Industries, Ganem and his family seek to celebrate the lives of people's family members by creating beautiful and unique caskets. According to their mission statement, their purpose is "to let your loved one's life shine through our designs. What we do is far more than just painting caskets. Let our artwork tell their story!"
Taking his kindness one step further, Ganem has created caskets for 19 of the 21 Uvalde victims free of charge. In order to create these beautiful commemorations, Ganem met with each family to learn about each person. In conversation with CBS Mornings, Ganem said about his work, "It is not a box anymore. It is a beautiful creation that represents the loved ones."
Here at The Sunday Paper, we are so grateful for shining examples of people finding their purpose, living their wildly authentic lives, and combining those discoveries to move humanity forward.
