The Unknown That Lives Within Each of Us

My new book I Am Maria comes out in one month.

If you had told me a few years ago that I would write and release a book filled with my own poetry and reflections, I would have laughed and told you that you were out of your mind. I really would have.

But this book kept coming up in my soul. Every time I said no to releasing it, my soul said yes. The thought wouldn’t leave me alone. And so, I surrendered to it.

I’m excited for you to read my new book. But if I’m being honest, I’m also a little scared. I Am Maria is the deepest and most personal book I’ve ever written. It’s incredibly vulnerable, and it’s definitely outside my comfort zone. That said, I felt comforted and reassured about my decision to publish it after so many of you joined me, Yung Pueblo and Rachel Platten last week at our virtual kickoff of my book tour. I really loved being in community with so many of you. Your words of support meant so much to me.
