“Brain Rot is the Oxford English Dictionary Word of the Year”

So said a headline in the news this week. I stared at it for a bit, then shrugged, smiled, and kept on reading.

It doesn’t really matter why or how brain rot became the word of the year—it just is, and that is that. In fact, there seems to be a lot of this and that these days. Things that just are, and things that make us stop, shrug, shake our heads, and keep going.
