Here we are in the homestretch. Hanukkah begins tonight. Christmas is one week from today, and in two weeks, we’ll enter a brand new year.

Getting there will feel challenging for some of us. Others will be able to “fa la la” their way all the way to 2023 without skipping a beat.

No matter how you feel right now, the truth is that this coming week and the ensuing days are often charged with emotions for everyone. The holiday season is filled with expectations and responsibilities, and it’s laden with meaning, nostalgia, and memories of years gone by.

I always get nostalgic at this time each year, no matter how hard I try not to. I get nostalgic putting my Christmas village together. I get nostalgic putting certain ornaments up on the tree. The other day I went to meet Santa with my granddaughter and all I could think about was her mother as a little girl on Santa’s lap.
