The Beginning Is Now: Why 57-Year-Old Actress and Entrepreneur Brooke Shields Wants Every Woman of Every Age To Feel Visible

After decades of success acting and modeling, Brooke Shields is stepping into entrepreneurship with a mission to shift the dialogue around age and encourage women 40+ to own their power. Shields has founded Beginning is Now, an online platform and wellness brand rooted in the idea “that every day is a chance to begin again,” as it reads on its homepage.

Shields was inspired to start Beginning is Now, after learning how many women didn’t believe they were entitled to self-care. She also hopes to inspire her two teenage daughters "that the best is constantly yet to come,” she tells People Magazine. She hopes her daughters “see their mother embarking on something extremely new, exciting and frightening and I've got the guts to do it."

Of her own personal philosophy, Shields says "Yes, my body [and] my skin is different at 57 than it was in my 20s, but that's not what I'm coveting. I'm not trying to grow younger, I'm trying to grow better and more confident."
