Sunday Paper Recommends — Week of June 12, 2022
This week, we recommend getting involved with the topics shaping our daily lives and conversations. Read on to find out how we're spending our next week.
What We're Joining:
As Maria mentioned in her I've Been Thinking... column this week, we have the incredible and historic opportunity to add our voices to those fighting for change in our nation's Capitol. 24/7 — The People's Filibuster for Gun Safety is a first-of-its-kind filibuster "bringing together Americans across parties, generations, races, regions, religions, and other divides to bear witness to the epidemic of gun violence killing our children, and each other." This movement will continue, 24 hours a day and 7 days a week, until Congress acts on sensible gun reform.

What We're Listening To:
From Slate comes the newest season of the popular podcast series Slow Burn. Previous seasons have covered the Bill Clinton-Monica Lewinsky scandal and Watergate, and this new season is a deep dive into Roe v. Wade, the court case that has guaranteed a woman's right to choose for almost 50 years and is likely to be overturned by the Supreme Court by year's end. This enthralling season details the history of the case and will enlighten you as we move into its uncertain future.

What We're Watching:
Given the news scrawled across the headlines, and discussed in recent Sunday Paper articles, men and masculinity is certainly a conversation we should be placing front and center. That's why, this week, we're recommending 2015's The Mask You Live In. The film, executive produced by Maria Shriver, "follows boys and young men as they struggle to stay true to themselves while negotiating America’s narrow definition of masculinity." The important film is certain to get you thinking and spark conversation with your friends and family.
