Sunday Paper Recommends—Week of February 19, 2023
At The Sunday Paper, we want to inspire you to gather at your table—virtually or with friends and family—and open your heart and mind to conversations that will move the needle. After all, the dinner table is where we connect on topics and map out the changes we can all make that’ll truly make an impact.
This week, to encourage your conversations, we recommend checking out the following:
What We're Reading
A father of three, journalist Richard Reeves observed that institutions, the law, and people’s attitude towards boys and men didn’t keep up with the economic and social change we experienced in recent decades. In Of Boys and Men: Why the Modern Male Is Struggling, Why It Matters, and What to Do about It, Reeves shares his findings and offers innovative solutions to the complex and urgent crisis boys and men are facing. You can read our interview with Reeves here.
What Other Newsletters We're Reading
In The Marginalian, subscribers can find mind-broadening and heart-lifting pieces explored through the lens of art, science, poetry, and philosophy. The free Sunday newsletter delivers content for readers searching for truth, beauty, meaning, and creative vitality.
What We're Watching
Documentary Pamela, a love story details pop-culture icon Pamela Anderson’s rise to fame, rocky romances, and the sex tape scandal in her own words. The film is a response to 2022’s drama series Pam & Tommy. Reveal Anderson’s journey with Emmy-nominated filmmaker Ryan White on Netflix.
College is supposed to be a fun chapter in life, but everything changed when a friend’s father Larry moved in. Larry emotionally and physically abused a group of Sarah Lawrence College students into his sex cult, and documentary Stolen Youth gives a humanistic look at the survivors. People of color, youth struggling with mental health issues or their sexuality became Larry’s target.
What We're Excited About
