Sunday Paper PLUS Recommends—Week of January 28, 2024
At The Sunday Paper, we often discover books, podcasts, films, and other works that move the needle and spark inspiring change. This week, we are thrilled to hand the mic again to our Sunday Paper PLUS readers! Our thanks to Lisa, Lee, Marchell, and our very own Maria for their recommendations. We hope what they suggest below opens your heart and mind.

It will be a day of movement, purpose, and fun for brain and body health. Maria and Patrick hope to see you there!
What Lisa Is Reading
When spiritual teacher Judy Smoot received a devastating health diagnosis, she was challenged to put the spiritual practices she followed and taught to so many to the ultimate test. It All Belongs tells of how Judy did this with humility, courage, grace, and hope as she faced her mortality. And all the while, her husband, Roy, faces immeasurable love and grief. This is a profound book that explores the dual beauty and reality of death and the promise every minute holds.
What Lee Is Watching
We devour shows with strong female leaders and were thrilled to learn of Miss Scarlet and The Duke, suggested by Lee. This British series follows protagonist Eliza Scarlet, the first female detective in London's Victorian era. Eliza is bold and brash, cunning and intelligent. She challenges Detective Inspector William Wellington—the Duke—and people's assumptions. A witty, fun ride of a show.
What Marchell Is Listening to
One of the ultimate queens of country, Dolly Parton, has finally released her long-awaited solo album, Rockstar, and it's a fantastic ride. Boasting 30 songs—a mix of originals and renditions—and a roster of incredible supportive talent, including Pink and Brandi Carlile, this is the album to listen to in the morning to get into a hopeful, grateful mindset. Dolly continues to reinvent, and we are in awe.
