At The Sunday Paper, we often discover books, podcasts, films, and other works that move the needle and spark inspiring change. This week, we are thrilled to hand the mic again to our Sunday Paper PLUS readers! Our thanks to Debrah, Kendall, and Dorothy for their recommendations. We hope what they suggest below opens your heart and mind.

What Debrah Blase Is Reading

Matt Haig gifted the world in 2015 when he released his book Reasons to Stay Alive, which documented his journey back from the depths of an emotional breakdown. Haig's writing offered a lift raft for so many. His wisdom-filled novels do the same. Now, the acclaimed author and novelist is back with a new compelling novel The Life Impossible, which tells the story of the character Grace Winters, who lives on a Mediterranean island and is driven by curiosity. As the story goes, "She arrives in Ibiza with a one-way ticket, no guidebook, and no plan." Filled with adventure, this novel is another example of Haig's stunning writing. We're so grateful to Deborah for the rec!

What Kendall Graham Is Watching

The internet has been exploding over Joan Vassos, the star of the new Golden Bachelorette series, and for good reason. The moment host Jesse Palmer greeted her, the 61-year-old took the show in the direction of unparalleled grace and wit—and it’s been a joy to watch her navigate all the stories, twists, and drama that come with her male suitors. Vassos became a widow after 32 years of marriage and was actually a contestant on the Golden Bachelor before leaving the show to help her daughter. Her role back on reality TV has been full of fun with the 24 eligible bachelors she’s been saying yes and no to. The world is watching. Thanks for rec, Kendall! We’ve been rapt.

What Dorthy Irwin Is Listening To

Julia Louis-Dreyfus has lit up audiences for decades, and she continues to be on-screen and, in more recent years, behind the mic as the host of the beloved podcast, “Wiser Than Me.” Now in its third season, the podcast offers a platform for Louis-Dreyfus and her guests to tackle the subject of ageism, biases, evolving, loss, and more. The pro-aging advocate is a fierce supporter of women with whom she has touching, deep conversations on the show, including the likes of Janet Fonda, Alice Waters, and her 90-year-old mom, Judith. This stellar series offers doses of fun, gravity, and sheer inspiration. We’re grateful for the recommendation, Dorothy!
