My dear friend Elizabeth lost her home in the Palisades fire. Everything she had collected throughout her life went up in smoke, All the mementos her parents had left her, everything her kids had ever given her, every single thing she had owned—gone in a blaze.

She sent me a video of herself going back to see what was left of her house, her former life. She said, “It was tough for sure. I felt like I was at my own funeral.”

Wow.
