Here at The Sunday Paper, we are in awe of our nation's heroes and their families. We also have endless reverence for the Architects of Change who work tirelessly to support our veterans and keep alive the legacies of those who have served and fallen. In this light, we're proud to share the work and efforts of two incredible women: Carol Berberich and Dr. Chrisanne Gordon. Carol is the President of the Gold Star Family Advisory Board for Legacies Alive, an organization that works to provide support to families of veterans. Carol is the mother of three sons who have all served in the army. Her late son, Staff Sergeant Brian Piercy (pictured with her below), was killed in Afghanistan on July 19, 2010. Today, Carol puts her heart and soul into honoring her son and helping veterans and their communities.

Dr. Chrisanne Gordon is an author, documentary filmmaker, and physician who aims to assist veterans suffering with traumatic brain injury. She founded the non-profit organization Resurrecting Lives to provide educational opportunities and swift treatment to veterans suffering from TBI. Her most recent project is a short film called Brainstorms  (to be released in early 2022), which assists the audience in experiencing the struggles of a Traumatic Brain Injury, an 'invisible wound of war.” We are honored to be in contact with these two Architects of Change and their brave work. As Carol told us, 'There is nothing I can do to bring my son back, but I am determined to do everything I can to help veterans who suffer.” You can learn more about Carol and Chrisanne's efforts by visiting legaciesalive.com and resurrectinglives.com.
