UPDATE: Architect of Change Mitch Albom Is on a Mission to Provide Love, Safety, Shelter, and Education for His Haiti Orphanage in Crisis
Haiti is in crisis. While the country is still recovering from the Earthquake in 2010, gang violence is spiraling out of control. This year, 531 people were killed, 300 injured, and 277 kidnapped in gang-related activities in Port-au-Prince alone, according to a United Nation’s report in March.
Author, journalist, and philanthropist Mitch Albom oversees an orphanage called Have Faith Haiti, and the children and staff there are living in this increasingly unsafe situation. But, we can help! We can help this amazing cause that provides safety, nourishment, education, and opportunity for Haiti’s impoverished children and orphans.

UPDATE FROM THE TEAM AT HAVE FAITH HAITI
You’ve given us so much to be grateful for. Because of your generosity, we’ve taken immediate steps to put this funding towards our security needs — more guards, installing alarms, building up fences. We’ve run emergency drills to make sure our kids and staff know what to do when they hear the alarms. The children have been so brave, and are feeling braver by having a plan and knowing so many are invested in keeping them safe. We cannot erase every child’s fear, but we can assure them that we’re doing everything we can. Our staff knows that we are working to keep them safe, too.
We're purchasing cameras and lights around our perimeter and designing the conversion of a building’s level into a bulletproof “safe house.” Our security plan and its ongoing maintenance will always need support, but your selflessness has helped jumpstart our progress. We cannot thank you enough. The GoFundMe currently remains open, and you will find updates about daily life at Have Faith Haiti at www.havefaithhaiti.org.
