Right now, debates around our country are raging about things like critical race theory, anti-racism, and equity. These topics are at the top of our minds and social media feeds; they're coming up at dinner parties, school board meetings, and even on Capitol Hill. And while everyone seems to have an opinion about the right way to move forward, a young black activist named Chloé Valdary wants us all to take a different approach…which is why she launched Theory of Enchantment, a program that uses literature and pop culture to do the hard work of antiracism with an attitude of love and compassion, even in the midst of profound disagreement.'Our curriculum teaches people how to understand the complexity of who they are…their shadow and their light,” says Valdary. 'We see supremacy not as a kind of all-encompassing systemic power, but as an overcompensation for insecurity. In that sense, supremacy is really just a façade, and when you take the facade as a facade and try to tackle what's behind it, you can actually respond from a place that creates change rather than simply perpetuating the insecurity driving supremacy.”To read more about Theory of Enchantment and enroll in Valdary's game-changing online course, click here.
