Love and Hope

I was at the Special Olympics farewell dinner in Italy last week when a man stood to speak. His words struck me and stayed with me all week long.

Now, I’ve known this particular man for many, many years. He’s highly successful, travels around the world, and has, as they say, seen it all.

He stood to speak to the crowd about the feeling he had being among so many from different countries. He spoke about the joy, the love, and the kindness he experienced. Then he said:

“I just don’t want this feeling to end—not tonight, not ever. I so wish the world was like this. Please don’t let this end.”
