Over the last 80 years, the world has changed many times over: the iPhone revolutionized our relationship with technology, the Internet was created, there have been countless world leaders, and Alaska and Hawaii became states, amongst many other changes. What hasn't changed in the last 80 years is the beautiful love between Hubert and Jean Malicote.

The Malicotes met nearly 81 years ago in Hamilton, Ohio at a Sunday morning church service. After an initial spark, the couple quickly became infatuated with one another and eventually married—their marriage hastened by Hubert's enlisting in the Navy. Throughout his tenure in the service, the two stayed in constant communication through letters, deepening their affection for one another while worrying about each other's wellbeing.

Throughout their almost 80 years of marriage, the raising of their three children, and maintaining a five-acre ranch, the Malicotes claim they've never fought. Whenever a disagreement arises, Hubert explains their M.O. is to take some space to themselves to prevent misunderstandings from growing into massive issues. Another rule of theirs: they must always share a kiss before bedtime. Hubert also stresses the importance to "never criticize each other." And to maintain their youth, the couple devotes time to their most cherished hobbies.

A thing or two could be learned from this happily married couple—one that has been walking the walk for almost 80 years! What a beautiful reminder that love can last with a little devotion—and a few rules. To learn more about the Malicotes and their story, read this piece in The Washington Post.
