Allison Holker Boss Lost Her Husband, Stephen "tWitch" Boss, to Suicide. Here’s Her Message to Men About Mental Health
It's Mental Health Awareness Month, and The Sunday Paper would like to share Allison Holker Boss' message to men. Allison Holker Boss recently sat down with TODAY’s Hoda Kotb for her first interview since the passing of her husband, beloved dancer, and The Ellen DeGeneres Show DJ, Stephen “tWitch” Boss.
Allison opened up about what life has been like since his sudden death and the shock she still feels. “No one’s ready for that moment, and there’s no one that saw this coming,” she told Kotb. “No one—and that breaks my heart too.”
Allison said Stephen was always strong for those around him. Yet when it came to his own mental health struggles, she fears he was unable to ask for help.
She shared that grieving for her and her family is a process—and some days are harder than others. Allison said through all the tough times, the outpouring of support from friends and fans has been a great source of comfort. She’s hoping to open a conversation and bring more awareness to mental health, hoping it will help others feel comfortable asking for help.
Holker Boss and her family are honoring her husband’s legacy by partnering with her local National Alliance on Mental Illness branch, Nami Westside L.A., running programs at the Boys & Girls Clubs of America.
