After Two Engagements, Jill Martin Gets Her Happily Ever After—and We’re Reveling in Her Love Story Along With Her
Emmy award-winning TV host, author, and fashion expert Jill Martin has proven there is no one way to fall in love—and no correct timeline to follow. After their second time getting engaged, she and her new husband, Erik Brooks, got married in a beautiful New York Public Library ceremony last weekend.
Martin was 41 years old when she met Brooks, and she shared with The Sunday Paper that she’d been single for most of her adult life. Though she was happy and had created a successful career for herself, she would hear all kinds of hurtful questions like, “Why aren’t you with anyone? Don’t your parents want grandchildren?”
It prompted her to think something was wrong with her—until she eventually realized she was in control of her reactions to what others said, and that it was perfectly acceptable for her to move through life on her own timing.
She got engaged for the first time in 2019, two years after she and Brooks first started dating. Challenges brought on by their long-distance relationship caused the couple to call off the wedding in 2020, but in 2021, they found their way back to each other and became fiancés once again.
Fast forward to September 2022, and Martin and Brooks are happier than ever to finally be husband and wife. (You can find more wedding photos here, along with Martin’s sweet words on her path to finding her forever love!).
“Everyone’s journey is different,” Martin told TODAY. “It took me 45 years to find my fairy tale. When I realized I was confident on my own, that’s when I knew Erik and I were ready to get back together.”
